But they look so
easy to groom?
The major bonus of
a sphynx cat is that there isn't tons of long hair working it's
way in to all of your clothes and furniture. But don't be fooled
sphynx require a lot of grooming. Since sphynx do not have a
normal coat a lot of the oils that would naturally be pulled
away from the skin on to the hair end up forming a waxy
build-up. The most common place for the waxy buildup is in the
ears and on the nail beds. Sphynx, just like
people, need regular baths to wash away oils and dirt.
Sphynx also
require a quality diet. Many breeders feed raw diet, but a high
quality food like Innova, Evo, Natrual balance or Blue Buffalo will often do
the trick. I have found that using a high protein diet produces
less waste and helps to eliminate excess waste. I feed Innova
and Evo, as well as a variety of food for the kittens. It is
really important to expose kittens to a variety of food so that
when they are older they won't have a sensitive stomach.
